This Limited edition print (Unfamiliar Findings) from the botanical series illustrates an endangered butterfly called the Black Grass Dart Butterfly (Ocybadistes knightorum, it is endemic to a small area in Coffs harbour in NSW. It lives within patches of the Floyds grass a species of native grass and will only live within a 50m range of this grass. This butterfly is monophagous which means it will only eat one type of food the Floyds grass so its habitat is critical to its survival.
Australian flora species: Eucalyptus botryoides, Polyscias sambucifolia, Angophora costata flower and Eucalyptus piperita. The original artwork was completed using pigment ink, fine-liner ,watercolor paint and colour pencil.
